Innovations: Charity at ATMs

Bank Machine is proud to be leading the introduction of ATM Giving in the UK. Soon the Public will be able to donate money to their favourite charities when they make one of their regular visits to a Bank Machine ATM.

Nearly 600 charities have registered with Bank Machine to participate in the scheme.

With a launch planned in July 2012, work is well under way to select the initial group of charities that will feature on Bank Machine ATM screens. The selection of charities will be made by an Independent Panel specially selected to oversee ATM Giving at Bank Machine ATMs.

The Chair of the Independent Panel is Sir Stuart Etherington. Sir Stuart will be supported in his work by other panelists with significant experience in the UK charity sector.

The Independent Panel will not have an easy task, with a list of so many charities from which to make their initial selection.

It is intended that local, regional and national charities will all have an opportunity to participate. The charity selection is likely to be refreshed every 6 months or so to give as many worthy causes as possible the opportunity to share the benefits of this excellent innovation.

There is potential for charities to receive many millions of Pounds each year through ATM Giving. Bank Machine will be working hard with the charities and LINK to do everything possible to ensure this potential becomes a reality.
